Bringing Design & Beauty to Concrete

Countertops

Concrete countertops have become increasingly popular because of the versatility and endless color and design options that they provide. Concrete is stain resistant, heat resistant and cost-competitive with other natural and synthetic solid surface countertops. We offer two types of concrete countertops: 1) cast concrete, and 2) concrete overlay.

Cast concrete countertops are either pre-cast in a shop or built on site. Cast concrete is made of cement, lightweight aggregates and a combination of additives (which includes some type of reinforcement). Some types of reinforcement are structural steel, wire mesh, fiberglass and/or fibers. Once the cast concrete countertops are cast, cured and decorated, they are always sealed. Since concrete is porous in its natural state, applying a sealer provides water and stain resistance that is necessary for increasing longevity and maintaining the beauty of the countertops for years to come.

Our other concrete countertop offering is a concrete overlay over existing laminate (Formica) or tile countertops. They are a great alternative to have all of the qualities of concrete countertops, but for a little less money. We use a Portland cement and acrylic resin mixture to apply over your existing countertops, creating a custom, one-of-a-kind look that you desire. Sealed concrete overlay countertops provide all of the same benefits of sealed cast concrete countertops, but for alot less money.

One question that we often get is “Who chooses concrete countertops?” the Concrete Countertop Institute states that concrete countertops are the most unique, personal countertop option because they are made from scratch for each client. To determine whether concrete is right for you, think about whether you believe that:

  • You want something unique and personalized

  • You want something that looks natural and has character

  • You appreciate high-quality, hand-crafted items

  • Granite is too formal, too common

  • Synthetic solid surface materials look and feel like plastic

  • You need a color or visual texture that’s not available with other countertop materials

If so, concrete countertops may be right for you. Contact us or call us today to schedule a free consultation.
